The Little River Bottoms Chapter of the Arkansas Wildlife Federation.

Our mission statement:

To promote conservation, responsible management, and sustainable use of Arkansas' fish and wildlife habitat, natural resources, and outdoor recreational opportunities through education and advocacy, with an emphasis on Southwest Arkansas.

Our first project:

To support efforts of individuals and entities that are working to stop AEP/SWEPCO's coal-fired power plant proposed to be located in Hempstead County by (i) encouraging greater public awareness of the true and complete costs of the plant, including economic, environmental, public health and social costs, and (ii) seeking donations to the Arkansas Wildlife Federation ("AWF") Little River Bottoms Defense Fund.

The costs of opposing AEP/SWEPCO's proposed plant are enormous.  A small group of individuals initiated the battle, organized opposition, and paid most of the costs to-date.  This group remains in the forefront, with a number of actions in process.  However, it is no longer possible for the same few individuals to pay the costs of efforts that benefit many.  If the battle is to continue, new donors must step up and past donors must re-up.

We encourage you to provide substantial financial support to oppose AEP/SWEPCO's proposed coal-fired power plant.  We request your tax deductible donation be made directly to the AWF and designated for its LITTLE RIVER BOTTOMS DEFENSE FUND.

Simply put, coal-fired power generation is just too expensive.  Please help stop it in Southwest Arkansas.
